Lauris and Marsha went with me today. Our intent was to start the day with some tripletail, but the weekend boat traffic made them vanish.
We hit a few spots and they were entertained by mackrel, shark and ladyfish during the tide change. After the water started moving with the falling tide, we went on a cobia search. We found several that would not eat, and two that would. Lauris and Marsha got one each to the boat, and had a nice mackrel beat another interested cobia to the bait.

I went out solo in the middle bay today to play with the tripletail a little bit. This guy won a certificate for the day spa, and to become dinner for four! He was 11 lbs. I had 5 smaller ones, and one bigger one that broke me off before I could turn him.

Jerry from Polk Co., along with his daughter and two grandsons went with me this morning. We left Davis Island at 8am and started fishing near the port. We had a nice snook, around 36 inches, to the boat there, but she chewed through the leader just as I leaned down to lip her. We spent most of the remainder of the day around Long Shoal. They pulled about 30 catfish to the boat, but mixed in with the kitties were a variety of desirable fishes. They ended up keeping 4 nice trout and 2 mackrel for dinner. The kids had a blast with jacks, sharks, bluefish, mackrel and trout.
